2019 Hamvention Plans, HF Talk-In and Mobile App

It’s time, or almost time for the 2019 Hamvention. This will be the third year I make the trip traveling from Pierre, South Dakota to the Greene County Fairgrounds.  The previous two years were very exciting, especially the first year because I did not know what to expect. You can follow me on TwitterFacebookInstagram and YouTube for updates while I’m there and while traveling.

2019 Hamvention

2019 Hamvention HF Talk-In

Hamvention will be held May 17, 18 and 19, 2019 at the Greene County Fairgrounds and Expo Center.

HF “Talk-In” net next Monday and Tuesday evenings. They will answer questions and give out general information pertaining to the show. The plan is to have two time slots of approximately 2 hours each on both nights. On the air on 7.215 MHz at 1800-2000 EDT (2300-0100 GMT) and on 3.875 MHz at 2200-0000 EDT (0300-0500 GMT) each night. Operating frequencies will be plus or minus QRM.

Mobile Operation

Icom 7000 and Tarheel 200A. I'll be on the air while traveling. In the early morning ing it'll be the Breakfast Club net on 3.973 MHz. and later on, Midcars 7.258 MHz.

My Kenwood TH-72A will be on and it'll have GPS and APRS running. Let's see if APRS will work for me going across the country. I'll be interested to see how well it works.

Plans While I’m There

Anyone staying at John Bryan State Park Campground? That's where I'll be Friday and Saturday evening.

Mr. B will be staying at Francis Kennels during the day Friday and Saturday while I go to the Fairgrounds.

Biscuit AKA Mr. B

I'll be using the 2019 Hamvention Mobile Event Application to organize my schedule while I’m there.

A few things I want to see are:

1. The Yaesu FTDX-101D

2. RigPi Station Server

3. The Flea Market

Of course there's going to be much more and I'll add things as I go.

Thank you

Rich, I have a IC-7300 and have followed your information about my rig for the last few months. Very good work and very helpful. Please cover in detail and the set up of the 7300 with the RigPi server as this is what I would like to set up at my cabin which is on a 1000ft. hill in upstate New York. I’m sure I’m not the only one who wants to do something like this. Thanks for all your help.

Hi Rich,
Love all of your videos. I attended the 2019 Dayton Hamvention on Saturday morning. As I pulled up in line to get into the parking area you pulled right in front of me in your Red Jeep with the huge antenna and your call on the license plate!! I wanted to catch you to say HI but couldn’t keep up with you. An eyeball contact would have been nice.
