Road to QuartzFest

Well I finally made it to QuartzFest in Quartzsite, Arizona. After 8 days on the road I arrived around noon and found thousands of campers here. Some for QuartzFest and many for other events in Quartzsite. At the welcome tent I was met with a friendly greeting and a nice welcome package with free gifts.

My travel included Nebraska, Colorado, New Mexico and finally Arizona. In New Mexico I was held up by a snowstorm, but fortunately I had a warm place and everything that I needed while holding up at Walmart in Gallup, New Mexico. What an adventure!

My station here consist of the Icom 7300, LDG Auto Tuner and a inverted L mounted on a 30ft. flag pole.

You can follow me on my YouTube channel, “Ham Radio With K0PIR” on Twitter and/or my Instagram account. If you can’t meet up with me in the desert, I’ll be on the air. I’ll be operating on all modes throughout the week long event on 20m, 40m and 80m.

I look forward to making videos of the event and making a lot of contacts from the desert in Arizona.
